Washington County/Johnson City EMA to Host Free CERT Training September 19

Community members interested in volunteering and building local emergency preparedness are encouraged to register for the free training.

(JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.) August 16, 2026 — The Washington County/Johnson City Emergency Management Agency (WCJCEMA) will host a free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center, 117 Boone Street in Jonesborough.

CERT trains and organizes community volunteers to help their families, neighbors and community during emergencies, especially when professional responders may not be immediately available. Training covers practical disaster response skills and gives volunteers a better understanding of how they can safely support their community during an emergency.

WCJCEMA continues to grow its CERT program and invest in training and developing its team members. Building a strong volunteer team adds another layer of preparedness and response capability across Washington County and Johnson City.

Community members 18 years of age or older who want to get involved and are interested in attending can learn more about the CERT program and register for this free training at www.wcjcema.org/cert.
