Memorial Services Set for AEMT/Rescue Technician Fred Kemp

(JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.) October 27, 2025 – Washington County/Johnson City EMS has announced funeral service arrangements for AEMT and Rescue Technician Fred Kemp, who died in the line of duty during a training exercise on Wednesday afternoon.


Funeral services for AEMT and Rescue Technician Fred Kemp will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Seating inside the church will be limited to family, friends, and first responders.


A public safety procession will take place Saturday morning before the service, beginning at approximately 11:00 a.m. AEMT Kemp will be escorted from Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home to his final resting place at Mt. Zion Cemetery. 


Agencies planning to participate are asked to register in advance at this link. Additional details will be shared with registered agencies by email and text.


Community members are encouraged to stand safely along the route to show their support as emergency personnel and agencies honor AEMT Kemp. Those attending should remain clear of active roadways and follow all instructions from officials. The procession map can be found below.


Traffic impacts are expected throughout the area on Saturday. Drivers and residents should plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow directions from officials. Modified routes and temporary closures may limit or restrict access for residents near Mt. Zion Baptist Church and along the procession route.
